Note: This game is complicated. So you may choose to watch the video before facilitating for the first time:
Instruct youth to form a circle.
Tell everyone they will be playing a game called Kunja!
Explain participants will need to perform three motions to a constant beat in order to stay in the circle.
Practice the three motions together:
Kunja: While saying “Kunja” over and over again, players bob up and down and slap their thighs.
Bunny: The player who is “It” makes bunny ears (index and middle finger) with both hands while saying “Bunny” four times and bending their fingers each time. The first two times they will do the motion toward themselves, the second two they will point the motion at another person.
Toki (Korean for rabbit): Players on both sides of the player doing the Bunny will do the Toki motion – arms waving and rocking side to side while saying “Toki” four times.
Ask if everyone understands the three motions.
Instruct everyone in the circle to start with the Kunja motion and rhythmic chant.
Pass the Bunny sign to someone in the circle, who will adopt the Bunny sign and chant; twice towards themselves and a third and fourth time toward someone else in the circle.
Ensure the participants on either side of the person doing the Bunny sign are doing the Toki chant and motion.
Call players out of the circle who hesitate or miss rhythm when doing the Bunny and Toki signs.
Continue directing play until only one player is left in the circle.
Congratulate everyone for their attention and working so well together.
